26.2.2025 | Opening Remarks at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Winter meeting on 20 February 2025 by OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Ms Elina Valtonen, were delivered by Permanent Representative, Ambassador Vesa Häkkinen.

6.11.2024 | Minister of Finance Riikka Purra gave the Government’s address to a memorial ceremony for Jews handed over to Nazi Germany by Finland. The memorial was held in Helsinki on 6 November.

21.12.2021 | A tragic accident in Abdirizak Warsame Ahmed’s childhood caused him to lose both of his hands. Instead of being discouraged, he turned the accident into a resource. The boy with no hands grew up to be a man who now lives in Mogadishu and travels around Somalia spreading the message of hope and peace. Ahmed is a participant in the Foreign Ministry’s pro-peace communication project.

22.6.2021 | Rowda Olad and Abdirizaq Ahmed share a common goal: they want to promote peace in Somalia. As part of a communication project in Somalia and funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, active youth, like Olad and Ahmed, tell about their work to promote peace development.

12.11.2020 | An informal meeting of EU home affairs ministers will be held via video conference on Friday 13 November. The topics on the agenda are the fight against terrorism and the reform of migration and asylum policy. Finland is represented by Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo.

16.4.2020 | Different parts of Finland are reporting engagement in activities by violent extremist movements. Violent non-parliamentary far right movements are active in the areas of all police departments. In some areas, there are also reports of activities of violent non-parliamentary far left groups, mainly anarchists and anti-fascists. These conclusions are presented in the new situation overview of violent extremism.

10.2.2025 | The annual OSCE Conference on addressing anti-Semitism opened today, February 10, in Helsinki. The conference is part of the OSCE's work on combating intolerance. In addition to anti-Semitism, the conference touches upon discrimination faced by Muslims, Christians and representatives of other religions.

10.2.2025 | Organisationen för säkerhet och samarbete i Europa OSSE:s årliga konferens mot antisemitism öppnades i dag i Helsingfors. Konferensen är ett led i OSSE:s arbete för att motverka intolerans. I konferensen behandlades också diskriminering av muslimer, kristna och företrädare för andra religioner.

11.7.2024 | On Thursday 11 July, the Government issued a resolution on the Action Plan for the Prevention and Combating of Violent Radicalisation and Violent Extremism.

23.10.2024 | The first national risk assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing for non-profit organisations (NPOs) has been completed. In addition to the assessment of risks, it is aimed at increasing awareness of the Finnish NPO sector among obliged entities specified in the Act on Preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, supervisory authorities as well as operators in the sector itself.

11.4.2024 | The Kalevala, the national epic of Finland, was awarded the European Commission’s European Heritage Label on 11 April 2024. The European Heritage Label is granted to sites, monuments, documents or events that have a particular significance for European history, culture and integration. The label was now granted to seven applicants.
