13.11.2025 | The Finnish Government submitted a communication to Parliament on 13 November 2025 regarding the European Commission’s proposal for a Regulation on the Connecting Europe Facility for the period 2028–2034. The Government welcomes the proposal and emphasises that funding should be more strongly directed towards strengthening defence and security, among other sectors.

23.5.2025 | The OECD sees vast potential for clean economic growth in Finland. However, structural reforms will be required to realise this potential. Among other things, the OECD recommends that Finland boost higher education, attract high-skilled immigrants and improve incentives for investments. Further adjustments to public finances are necessary due to rising defence spending.

13.4.2022 | India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Finnish companies operating in different sectors have expertise that India’s growing and developing economy needs. There are many opportunities for cooperation between Finland and India, including quantum technology, telecommunications and energy.

15.4.2024 | The call for applications on investment aid for energy infrastructure projects under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) has been opened. Applications will be accepted until the 15th of May 2024. The aid may be granted to companies and corporations for projects, where eligible costs exceed EUR 5 million. The investment aid available for projects is approximately EUR 35 million.

21.2.2022 | Datahub, the centralised information exchange system for the electricity retail market, went live on 21 February 2022. Datahub centralises the data from about 3.8 million electricity accounting points in a single system, and it significantly accelerates the exchange of information in the electricity retail market. 21.10.2021 | The legislative amendments required for the introduction of centralised information exchange services for the retail electricity market, the Datahub, will enter into force on 27 October 2021. These include the Act on amending the Electricity Market Act and the Act on temporary measures related to the introduction of centralised information exchange services in retail electricity market. The President of the Republic is scheduled to approve the legislative amendments on Friday 22 October 2021.

15.7.2024 | On 15 July 2024, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published an assessment report on how the electrification of transport could contribute to the flexibility of the Finnish energy system. In accordance with EU requirements, the report describes the current state of the opportunities which the electrification of transport could offer and proposes measures. 

15.3.2023 | Finland has been one of the leading providers of assistance to Ukraine's energy sector during the war. On Tuesday 14 March, the latest energy sector assistance, a smart solar power system, was sent from Finland to Ukraine.

6.3.2019 | The outlook review published by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment on 6 March 2019 outlines policies and measures that will lead Finland towards becoming a carbon neutral economy, using its energy and climate policy as a means to this end.

12.8.2021 | The Government issued a new decree on electricity supply settlement and measurement on 12 August 2021. The decree lays down provisions on the 15-minute balance settlement period, the transition towards the so-called single price model in the electricity market, and the changes in electricity supply settlement caused by the introduction of Datahub – a centralised information exchange system for the electricity retail market.

4.8.2023 | Before Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, approximately one third of the energy used in Finland was imported from Russia. That share was reduced almost to zero in a few months, and the energy war launched by Russia increased consumer prices remarkably. As the energy markets have changed, it is the time to look how Russian energy was replaced and what more permanent effects trade changes will have.
