New concepts with their translations have been added to the NATO Glossary, which is continuously updated by the Translation and Language Division of the Prime Minister’s Office in consultation with other specialists. Compiled in a terminology project at the Finnish Prime Minister’s Office, the Glossary gives recommendations for the Finnish and Swedish equivalents of English names, titles and terms used in the NATO context. Useful comments have been received from the team’s cooperation partners from Finland, Sweden and the European Union.

The new sections now added to the Glossary cover military presence and document types. The content earlier published includes names of organizations within NATO’s political and military structures; titles; key concepts related to NATO's core tasks, actors, operating environment, defence planning and arms control; and the names of key NATO agreements. The Glossary now contains around 250 entries, and new concepts and terms will be added in future updates.

The latest update of the NATO Glossary is now available online in the Government Termbank ValterLinkki toiselle sivustolle. It is also downloadable in PDF format from the “Glossaries and guidance” web pageTiedosto avautuu uudessa välilehdessä pdf 3.6MB .
