Foreign Minister Soini to the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels

The EU Foreign Ministers will convene at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on 16 November. Finland's representative in the meeting will be Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini. The agenda highlights are the Middle East peace process, migration, Syria and the EU's Eastern Partners.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini will lead the Foreign Affairs Council's discussion on the current situation in the Middle East peace process, the recent violations in the region, and the EU's role in the matter.

As for migration, the discussion will focus on the outcomes and follow-up of the Eastern Mediterranean - Western Balkans Route Conference of 8 October and on the Valletta Summit on Migration of 11 to 12 November.

Another theme of the meeting will be current matters, including the humanitarian situation, in Syria.  A central subject matter will be the political process to resolve the Syrian conflict.

The meeting will also discuss the EU's Eastern partners' situation and the work following the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga in May.

The foreign ministers will sign the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between the EU and Kazakhstan at the meeting.
