Changes to Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s staff

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has invited Matias Pajula to serve as his Special Adviser. He is transferring to the Prime Minister’s Office from his position as Special Adviser to Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen.

Matias Pajula has previously worked as Policy Advisor and Campaign Manager for the National Coalition Party in Helsinki, as Public Affairs Advisor at Miltton consultancy and as Chair of the Youth League of the National Coalition Party. He also serves as a city councillor and as Chair of the City Council Group of the National Coalition Party in Helsinki.

Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in European Affairs Tuomas Tikkanen is on parental leave until 31 July 2026.

Pajula’s duties at the Prime Minister’s Office will include tasks related to both EU and domestic policy. Pajula took up his new position on 4 March 2026.
