Prime Minister Marin to Vienna

Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin will visit Vienna on Friday 17 February at the invitation of the Federal Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer. During the visit she will also meet the Federal President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen.

The topics to be discussed include the situation with respect to migration to Europe, support to Ukraine as it defends itself against Russia’s war of aggression and measures to support the EU’s economy. The agenda also includes the security of energy supply in Europe and EU integration process of the Western Balkans.
 
The relations between Finland and Austria are very good and straightforward. Particular points of common interest are the accession of both countries to the EU at the same time in 1995 and similar views on numerous issues. This is Prime Minister Marin’s first visit to Austria.
