Nordic development ministers to visit Finland to strengthen Nordic countries’ voice in development policy transformation
Finland is holding the Presidency of the Nordic (N5) cooperation on foreign and security policy in 2025. Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio has invited the Nordic development ministers to Königstedt Manor in Vantaa on 5 September.
The meeting will be attended by Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa, Denmark’s State Secretary for Development Policy Elsebeth Søndergaard Krone, Norway’s State Secretary Stine Renate Håheim and Iceland’s Director General for International Development Cooperation Elin R. Sigurdardottir.
Items on the agenda for the meeting include the UN's comprehensive reform (UN80), the future of international development funding, the reconstruction of Ukraine and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
“The Nordic countries are our closest partners in development policy as well as in foreign and security policy. We are at a pivotal moment in the evolution of development policy, and the Nordic countries play, and will continue to play, an active role in shaping this change,” Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Tavio says.
