Tuomas Tikkanen appointed Senior Adviser to Prime Minister Orpo in European Affairs

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has invited Tuomas Tikkanen to serve as Senior Adviser in European Affairs as of 1 September 2024. Tikkanen will represent Prime Minister Orpo in the network of high-level advisers to EU heads of state or government. In other words, he will serve as the Prime Minister’s EU Sherpa.

Tikkanen comes to the post from his position as Special Adviser to the Prime Minister in EU Affairs. Tikkanen holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki.

Tikkanen is taking over as the Prime Minister’s political representative in EU affairs from Jori Arvonen, who will begin as Ambassador to the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU on 1 September 2024.
