Foreign Minister Tuomioja to attend meeting of the Nordic and Baltic states
Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja will participate in the joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Baltic and Nordic states (Nordic-Baltic Eight, NB8) and the Visegrad Group Countries (V4) on Wednesday 20 February 2013 in Gdańsk, Poland.
The NB8 countries include Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and the Visegrad Group countries, on the other hand, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
This meeting of Foreign Ministers to be held in Gdańsk is the first with NB8-V4 participation. It was summoned by Poland, holder of the 2013 Presidency of the V4 Group, and Sweden, which coordinates NB8 cooperation in 2013.
The meeting will focus on three main topics: Security and Defence Policy, Eastern Partnership and energy and transport cooperation.
The NB8 cooperation began in 1991. V4 cooperation was launched the very same year.
