Foreign Minister Valtonen receives honorary doctorate from Lappeenranta–Lahti University of Technology

Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen was conferred an honorary doctorate by the Lappeenranta–Lahti University of Technology (LUT) on Saturday 23 May.

LUT University granted the title of honorary doctor to Minister Elina Valtonen in recognition of her strong commitment to democracy, sustainable development and innovation. According to LUT, Valtonen has also distinguished herself through her ability to combine technological, economic and societal expertise in an internationally impactful manner.

The honorary title is awarded in recognition of exceptional achievements and does not require the recipient to have a doctoral degree. In the ceremonial conferment of doctoral degrees in Lappeenranta on Saturday, LUT conferred 13 honorary doctorates in technology, nine in business administration and one in social sciences.
