Alexander Stubb the Finnish candidate to the EIP Management Committee

On Thursday 15 June, the Government decided to nominate Member of Parliament Alexander Stubb as the Finnish candidate for Vice-President of the Management Committee of the European Investment Bank for the term that ends on 31 August 2019.

Jan Vapaavuori, who now is the Mayor of the City of Helsinki, was the previous representative of Finland, Sweden, Austria, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the EIB Management Committee. According to an agreement between these countries, Finland is entitled to nominate a candidate for Vice-President of the Management Committee for the term that ends on 31 August 2019. The decision on the appointment will be made by the Board of Governors of the EIB on the basis of a proposal of the Board of Directors. 

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has a Board of Governors, Board of Directors and Management Committee. The Management Committee is composed of a President and eight Vice-Presidents, appointed by the Board of Governors on the basis of a proposal of the Board of Directors. Under the authority of the President, the Management Committee oversees the day-to-day running of the EIB, prepares decisions for the Board of Directors, and ensures that these are implemented. The group of countries composed of Finland, Sweden and Austria and the Baltic counties Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have a joint representative in the Management Committee.
