The Deputy Prosecutor General has filed a notice of appeal and will appeal the Helsinki District Court's decision to rule inadmissible charges related to cable breaches suspected to have been caused by the vessel Eagle S outside Finnish territorial waters.
In its judgment issued on October 3, 2025, the Helsinki District Court ruled that the Finnish Criminal Code could not be applied due to restrictions arising from the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, even though Finland could be considered the place where the alleged crimes were committed. The case is proceeding to the Helsinki Court of Appeal.
No further information will be provided at this stage.
