Leena Brandt appointed Press Officer at Finnish EU Representation

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Leena Brandt as Press Officer at Finland’s Permanent EU Representation in Brussels. Her appointment is for a three-year term starting 1 September.

Brandt is currently running her own company that provides communications training. She has 25 years of experience in business journalism in both the print and the electronic media. Most recently she has served as EU correspondent for the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE in Brussels, as producer of the A+ programme, and as head of the YLE current affairs programme A-studio. Leena Brandt holds a Master of Social Sciences degree.

The Press Officer’s role is to manage the EU Representation’s media relations and to maintain contact with Finnish and international correspondents based in Brussels. Furthermore the Press Officer provides the media with information on the EU Council and on Finnish positions, and organizes background and press briefings.
