Matias Marttinen appointed to serve as Minister of Employment
On 6 May 2025, the President of the Republic appointed Member of Parliament Matias Marttinen, M.Pol.Sc., to serve as Minister of Employment.
At the same time, the President released Arto Satonen from his duties as Minister of Employment and as a member of the Government.
Following the presidential session, the government plenary session decided on changes to deputising arrangements and the composition of ministerial working groups. The Government also appointed Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen to replace Arto Satonen as a member of the Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy.
The division of duties between the ministers will remain unchanged, except that unemployment security matters covered by the Department for Insurance and Social Security at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health will be transferred from the Minister of Employment to Minister of Social Security Sanni Grahn-Laasonen.
At the beginning of the session, Minister Marttinen took his oath of office and judicial oath.
Master of Administrative Sciences Mika Nykänen will continue as State Secretary to the Minister of Employment. Master of Social Sciences Teresa Salminen and Master of Laws Jaakko Aromaa will continue as Special Advisers.
