Eero Heliövaara appointed as Director General
On Thursday 17 January, the Government announced the appointment of Mr Eero Heliövaara, Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, Master of Science in Technology, as Director General of the Government Ownership Steering Department for a fixed-term period extending from 1 March 2013 to 31 December 2017.
Mr Heliövaara has previously served as the President and CEO of SRV Group Plc from 2006 to 2009 and the President and CEO of Pohjola Group Plc from 2001 to 2005. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer in Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company between 1998 and 2001.
The Government Ownership Steering Department formulates and implements state ownership policy and ownership steering. The department is responsible for the ownership steering of state-owned companies under the Prime Minister’s Office, coordination of ministries' ownership steering procedures, and interministerial cooperation.
