The Nordic Council of Ministers has opened a call for applications for funding to support a research project on the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in Nordic workplaces. The deadline for submitting applications is 25 September 2026.

Funding is available for a 2–3-year research project. The project must examine how AI is implemented in Nordic working life and what this means from the perspectives of the labour market, the working environment and labour law.

The project is expected to generate knowledge on what actually happens when AI is introduced and used in workplaces. The project should apply an analytical approach that combines working environment, labour market and labour law perspectives. It should also identify opportunities, risks and conditions for the responsible implementation of AI and what responsible implementation requires.
The applicants can be universities, higher education institutions, research institutes and other research organisations. The total budget for the project is DKK 5 million.
