Johanna Kaprio-Papageorgiou appointed to serve as Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and Communications at Finland's Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Johanna Kaprio-Papageorgiou to serve as Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and Communications at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2029.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has appointed Johanna Kaprio-Papageorgiou for a new three-year term as Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and Communications at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the EU, starting on 1 August 2026.

Kaprio-Papageorgiou has extensive experience in EU and international communications. She served as Chief Communications Specialist at the Prime Minister’s Office during Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU and has worked as Press Officer (Coreper I) at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the EU and as Communications Officer at Europe Information at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She has held various positions at the European Commission Representation in Finland. In addition, she has previously worked as Communications Manager at CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation and as Communications Coordinator for the 2020 Afghanistan Assistance Conference organised by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Kaprio-Papageorgiou holds the degree of Master of Science (MSc) in European Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and the degree of Master of Social Sciences from the University of Lund in Sweden.

As Counsellor for Public Diplomacy and Communications, she will be responsible for the media relations and communications of Finland’s Permanent Representation to the EU. Her main task will be to inform the public of the activities of the Council of the European Union and of Finland’s positions.
