Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen to visit New York
Minister for Foreign Affairs Valtonen will visit New York on 8 December. She will speak at the UN Security Council and participate in a panel discussion on Youth, Peace, and Security.
Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen will speak as the Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) at the UN Security Council in New York. She will present work done during Finland’s OSCE Chairpersonship and discuss European security with the Security Council’s Member States.
As Chair, Finland has fostered multilateral discussion on European security and the future of the OSCE.
The focus has been on supporting Ukraine and promoting the accountability for those who violate international law.
“The way Russia’s war of aggression will end - and its legitimacy under international law - will have impacts on the whole world. Every country should pay attention to these impacts”. Minister Valtonen says.
In New York, Valtonen will also participate in a panel discussion on Youth, Peace, and Security and meet representatives of the US business sector. In addition, the Minister will give interviews to the international media.
