Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will visit Rome and the Vatican on 26 November to meet Antonio Tajani, the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations.

During her visit, Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will discuss topical foreign policy issues, such as Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, support for Ukraine, the Middle East and transatlantic relations. Bilateral relations between Finland and Italy will also be on the agenda.

“As EU and NATO partners, the relations between Finland and Italy are excellent. Both the northern and southern dimensions must be taken into account in ensuring European security,” says Foreign Minister Valtonen.

The purpose of the meeting with Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations Paul Richard Gallagher is to exchange views on foreign policy and to hear the Holy See’s perspectives regarding peace mediation.
