On Thursday 25 June, the Prime Ministers of the Nordic Countries discussed the current situation with regard to COVID-19, their countries’ experiences and follow-up measures, and the common Nordic path forward after the crisis. The Prime Ministers also discussed the economy. Prime Minister Sanna Marin represented Finland at the meeting.

In the discussion, Prime Minister Marin stressed the need for the Nordic countries to develop their cooperation on security of supply and preparedness.

The Nordic countries are of paramount importance to Finland, and Finland’s term as President of the Nordic Council of Ministers next year presents a great opportunity.

This year, intergovernmental Nordic cooperation is being led by Denmark. The traditional summer meeting of the Nordic Prime Ministers has been postponed to the autumn.

The Heads of Government of Åland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland also attended today’s meeting.
