Seeds of the genetically modified tomato variety (Norfolk Plant Sciences Purple Tomato) have been marketed to home gardeners in Facebook. Since no marketing authorisation has been applied for in the EU, it is illegal to cultivate this variety in Finland. In the case of horticultural plants, the Finnish Food Authority is responsible for the supervision of unauthorised genetically modified products.
