Arctia Archipelago Shipping to Suomen Lauttaliikenne
The state owner will merge Arctia Archipelago Shipping Ltd and Suomen Lauttaliikenne Oy. The merge will bring together two companies providing ferry and shuttle services. After the restructuring, the State will own only one shipping operator which will both clarify and promote competition in the sector.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Policy has discussed the arrangement. It will be implemented by Suomen Lauttaliikenne buying the shares of Arctia Archipelago Shipping Ltd from Arctia Shipping Ltd. The arrangement will not impact the personnel as the companies do not have regionally overlapping business operations. The companies told earlier this year that they had opened restructuring negotiations.
