Prime Minister Alexander Stubb to South Korea
Prime Minister Alexander Stubb will head a Team Finland trade mission to the Republic of Korea on 19-22 November. The aim of the mission is to strengthen relations between Finland and Korea and promote trade and economic cooperation. South Korea is Finland's third biggest trade partner in Asia after China and Japan. Korea has promising growth potential and the Korean market provides new opportunities for Finnish companies, too.
During his visit, Prime Minister Stubb will have official discussions with the Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-won and a meeting with President Park Geun-hye and Minister of Education and Deputy Prime Minister Hwang Woo-Yea. The meetings with the Korean state leaders are to focus on bilateral political and trade-economic relations, education cooperation, climate change. and the situations in Ukraine and East Asia. The objective of the trade mission is also to strengthen cooperation between Finland and Korea as regards the Winter Olympics to be held in South Korea in 2018.
In the course of the trade mission, Prime Minister Stubb will attend a business seminar organised by four organisations representing Korean industries, a dinner hosted by the chairman of the Saenuri party, and an exhibition by Iittala at Lotte department store. Prime Minister Stubb will also give a speech at the University of Yonsei.
A business delegation, representing 22 Finnish cleantech, ICT, tourism, education and winter sport companies and organisations, will accompany Prime Minister Stubb on this trade mission to South Korea.
