  3. 14.3.2025 | The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health held a stakeholder event on 11 March to discuss the pandemic treaty that is currently being negotiated under the World Health Organization (WHO).   5. 7.9.2023 | At its meeting on 7 September, the Government decided that Finland would no longer grant temporary protection and new residence permits to those third-country nationals who have fled Ukraine and who were not granted international protection or a permanent residence permit by Ukraine. This decision will not affect the protection already granted or the validity of the residence permits already issued.

  10. 7.5.2026 | The Government proposes legislative changes that would make it easier for people claiming unemployment benefits to study.   12. 11.5.2026 | Hallitus on päättänyt asetusmuutoksesta, jonka myötä hantaviruksiin kuuluvan Andes-viruksen aiheuttama tauti lisättiin tartuntatautiasetuksen yleisvaarallisten tartuntatautien luetteloon. Asetusmuutos mahdollistaa esimerkiksi altistuneiden henkilöiden asettamisen karanteeniin, mikä antaa heille oikeuden tartuntatautipäivärahaan, jos he joutuvat olemaan poissa töistä.

  14. 13.5.2026 | A clear majority of people in Finland considers humanitarian aid an important and effective form of development cooperation. In a recent survey, more than 90 per cent of the respondents agreed that humanitarian aid for Ukraine is important. The public opinion poll, commissioned from Taloustutkimus by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, shows that views on development cooperation continue to be split by gender and along party lines.

  20. 3.2.2023 | More than 45,000 people who fled Ukraine last year may be eligible for a municipality of residence in 2023 after residing in Finland for one year, with about 13,000 already satisfying the qualifying period of residence in March–April. On registering a municipality of residence, they will leave the reception services system and become clients of municipalities and wellbeing services counties. This will make them a more integrated part of society in Finland.
