President and Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed Finland's participation in international crisis management and rapid reaction troops

On Friday 8 April, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed Finland's participation in international crisis management and rapid reaction troops. Finland will continue its strong and diverse contribution.

The meeting outlined that Finland will continue its participation in the European Union's crisis management operation EUNAVFOR Sophia in the Mediterranean with a maximum of ten staff officers until the end of 2017. Further decisions on crisis management participation will be made as more details have been made available.

The meeting also clarified practices concerning foreign and security policy assessment of Finnish Defence Forces’ participation in international exercises, including appropriate informing of Parliament.
